HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Job description: This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of many types of heavy equipment, along with assisting the team with on the ground construction, safe and efficient operation of equipment in the execution of environmental emergency and storm response projects. The project work will be directed by the project Site Superintendent.
IMPORTANT NOTE
This job is 80% equipment operation and 20% assisting with ground labor functions
JOB REQUIREMENTS
2 years of previous experience working in construction environment.
75% to 100% travel required - Ability to work at job sites throughout the state of Georgia (per diem paid for qualified weekly travel expenses)
Experience with a variety of construction equipment.
Load out rock, or soil into trucks for disposal, using heavy equipment.
Knowledge of applicable environmental sampling protocol for soil, oil and concrete.
Locating, identifying, cleaning and restoring land that has been contaminated by an oil spills/and diesel fuel.
Pour and or demolish concrete.
40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification is a plus but not required.
Valid Driver's License required.
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to pass drug screen.
Ability to lift 50 Ibs.
Judgment skills necessary to make decisions, solve problems and implement solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of heavy equipment.
Flexibility to both operate equipment (80%) and perform ground labor functions (20%)
Drive motor vehicle or large truck in performance of duties.
Possess and maintain a valid DOT driver's license to include being cleared as a legal DOT driver certified to operate equipment.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions--extreme heat, cold, dry, or wet environment.
Maintain safety and operating standards and requirements at all times.
Recognize and control hazardous working conditions and unsafe practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge and experience in an emergency and storm response environment
Knowledge of waste handling and disposal
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple assignments
Proven ability to work with others to achieve common goals- team player
Excellent customer service skills
