Job Description

The Village of Calumet is accepting applications for two seasonal Equipment Operator positions with the Department of Public Works. These positions primarily support winter snow-removal operations. Employment PeriodNovember 1 through April 30, with some flexibility in the starting and ending dates. Typical ScheduleMonday through Friday, 2:00 a.m
  • 10:00 a.m. Overtime and work during evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required depending on snowfall and operational needs. Position 1: Equipment Operator
  • CDL Required $22 per hour with 0-2 years of relevant experience $23 per hour with more than 2 years of relevant experience Valid CDL required, Class B Snow-removal and equipment-operation experience preferred Position 2: Equipment Operator
  • Non-CDL $20
  • 22 per hour pay based on experience CDL not required Previous experience operating equipment such as loaders, graders, and plow trucks is required Snow-removal experience is required Primary Duties Operate snow-removal and other DPW equipment safely Plow, grade, load, move, and haul snow as assigned Assist with clearing streets, parking areas, and other Village property Perform routine inspections, cleaning, greasing, and basic maintenance of equipment Identify and report mechanical or safety concerns Assist with minor repairs and other Department of Public Works duties Work safely during winter weather and low-visibility conditions Respond to changing schedules and snow conditions as needed General Requirements Dependable attendance and ability to report for early-morning shifts Prior snow-removal experience Equipment-maintenance experience and mechanical ability Ability to work independently and as part of a crew Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work outdoors in severe winter conditions Commitment to safe equipment operation and public service Benefits Michigan Earned Sick Time is provided.
