Installer / Operator Kalispell / Flathead Valley, Montana $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Installer / Operator to join our construction team. This position combines hands-on deck and railing installation with the operation of construction equipment. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, understands the importance of precise measurements and clean finishes, and is comfortable operating equipment safely and efficiently. This person must be willing to perform both installation and equipment-operation duties based on the needs of each project. Work includes building decks, railings, stairs, and related outdoor features, as well as assisting with excavation, site preparation, material handling, grading, and other equipment-related tasks throughout the Flathead Valley.
Responsibilities:
Installation and Construction Construct and install decks, replacement decking, railings, stairs, fascia, trim, and related outdoor features Work with wood, composite decking, and various railing materials and systems Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, measurements, and project specifications Accurately measure, lay out, cut, assemble, fasten, and finish construction components Install framing, decking, posts, stairs, handrails, guardrails, and finish materials according to project specifications Safely use saws, drills, impact drivers, levels, measuring tools, ladders, and other construction tools Follow applicable building requirements, manufacturer instructions, and quality standards Equipment Operation Safely operate skid steers, excavators, loaders, compactors, and other construction equipment Perform site preparation, excavation, grading, backfilling, material handling, and cleanup Dig footings and prepare areas for deck foundations, stairs, walkways, and related improvements Load, unload, move, and stage construction materials and equipment Complete routine inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns before operating equipment Properly care for company tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials Immediately report equipment damage, mechanical concerns, or unsafe conditions General Responsibilities Identify installation or site-related issues and communicate needed adjustments to the project manager Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite Protect customers' homes, landscaping, and personal property Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, coworkers, and project managers Follow all safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment Work outdoors in varying Montana weather conditions Assist with other construction tasks as needed Qualifications Previous experience in construction installation, equipment operation, carpentry, framing, remodeling, excavation, or a related trade is preferred Experience safely operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, or similar construction equipment Knowledge of deck framing, stairs, railings, and finish carpentry is highly desirable Ability and willingness to perform both hands-on installation and equipment-operation duties Ability to read construction plans and accurately follow measurements and specifications Proficiency with common hand and power tools Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, high-quality work Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team Dependable, punctual, and able to complete assigned work efficiently Strong problem-solving and communication skills Positive attitude and strong work ethic Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites throughout the Flathead Valley Class A CDL is preferred Ability to safely lift and carry materials, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods Willingness to follow all safety requirements and equipment-operating procedures What We Value We value safety, dependability, attention to detail, and craftsmanship that lasts. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 50.0 per week
