Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavation, Stormwater & Land Work Ashworth Property MaintenanceBlythewood, SCFull-time$25-$30 per hour, based on experience and ability About the Position Ashworth Property Maintenance is seeking an experienced, dependable heavy equipment operator to join our growing stormwater and land-services company. Our projects include stormwater pond maintenance and repair, drainage installation, erosion control, grading, land clearing, excavation, hydroseeding, and commercial site work throughout the Midlands of South Carolina. We are looking for someone who can safely and efficiently operate equipment, think through field conditions, take pride in the finished product, and work without needing constant supervision. This is not an entry-level operator position. Applicants should have meaningful experience operating excavation and grading equipment in active job-site conditions. There is an opportunity for the right person to grow into a crew-leader or foreman position. Primary Responsibilities Operate mini excavators, full-size excavators, skid steers, and mini skid steers etc Perform trenching, drainage installation, grading, excavation, loading, clearing, and material placement Install stormwater pipe, catch basins, riprap, geotextile fabric, and erosion-control materials Grade sites for positive drainage and finished elevations Load trucks and trailers safely and efficiently Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance Recognize changing site conditions and communicate problems before they become costly Follow project scopes, plans, measurements, and instructions Help with ground work and manual labor when equipment operation is not required Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site Document job progress and completed work with photos Communicate equipment damage, utility conflicts, material needs, and change-order conditions immediately Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of assigned work Required Qualifications At least two years of meaningful heavy-equipment operating experience preferred Demonstrated ability to operate excavators and skid steers safely Experience with trenching, grading, drainage, excavation, or site work Ability to work independently and solve routine field problems Ability to read a tape measure, check elevations, and follow grade Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Dependable attendance and ability to arrive on time Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, mud, and changing weather Ability to perform physical labor when needed Ability to communicate honestly about mistakes, damage, delays, and job-site conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience installing storm drain, PVC, catch basins, culverts, and drainage systems Stormwater pond, erosion-control, clearing, or riprap experience Experience operating larger excavators Experience hauling equipment and backing trailers CDL or experience operating commercial trucks Experience using a laser level or grade-control equipment Leadership or crew-management experience Mechanical ability and experience performing basic equipment maintenance What We Value Honesty and accountability Safe, careful equipment operation Pride in workmanship Independent problem-solving Respect for customers, coworkers, and equipment A positive attitude and willingness to help the crew Strong communication This is a full-time position with work generally performed Monday through Friday. Start times, finish times, and weekly hours may vary depending on project requirements, weather, and travel. Some overtime may be available or required during busy periods. Most projects are located throughout the Midlands of South Carolina, with occasional travel outside the immediate area.
