Today Job Description Company Overview Dave's Construction LLC is a premier underground utility contractor based out of Sioux Falls, SD , specializing in heavy infrastructure, directional drilling, and utility installation. Our crews are currently executing major long-term infrastructure projects in area. We are looking for a dedicated, safety-conscious Traveling Vacuum Truck / Hydrovac Operator to support our directional boring and excavation teams on site.
Job Overview & Location Details Corporate HQ:
Sioux Falls, SD.
Travel/Schedule:
Regular regional travel to Minnesota and surrounding area job sites is required. Typical work week is Monday through Friday, home on the weekends.
Key Responsibilities Hydro-Excavation & Potholing:
Safely operate high-pressure water and vacuum systems to expose underground utilities (potholing) ahead of directional drilling crews.
Drilling Fluid Management:
Manage, vacuum, and legally dispose of drilling mud and bentonite slurry from directional boring operations.
Equipment Operation:
Set up, break down, and clean heavy-duty vacuum hoses, booms, debris tanks, and fluid pumps daily.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to OSHA, DOT, and 811 "Call Before You Dig" regulations to protect existing underground infrastructure. Perform daily pre/post-trip inspections.
Requirements & Qualifications License:
Valid Class A CDL or Class B CDL is required.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Hydrovac, Jet-Vac, or Vacuum truck specifically in an underground utility or civil construction setting.
Utility Knowledge:
Basic understanding of directional boring, trenching, or sewer/water installation is highly valued.
Screening:
Clean driving record (MVR) and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screens.
