Up to $24 /hr Position Summary We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to support construction activities on an upcoming commercial and heavy civil project in Brownsville, TX. This position is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment used for site preparation, earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, drainage, roadway construction, and other civil infrastructure activities. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment on large commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction projects. Candidates must be able to perform daily equipment inspections, follow grade and project specifications, work safely around ground personnel and other equipment, and assist crews in meeting daily production goals.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
Operate excavators for underground utility and heavy civil construction. Excavate trenches for pipe, sewer, drainage, and utility installation. Dig safely around existing underground utilities. Maintain proper trench depth, width, and grade. Perform backfilling and site preparation as required. Load, move, and stockpile excavated material. Work closely with pipelayers, spotters, and ground personnel. Follow hand signals and directions from designated spotters. Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns. Maintain awareness of trench safety, overhead hazards, underground utilities, and nearby workers. Previous excavator experience specifically involving underground utilities required . Must be comfortable performing precision excavation around existing infrastructure. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and operate heavy equipment for extended periods. Ability to repeatedly climb in and out of equipment using three points of contact. Ability to walk active construction jobsites and navigate uneven terrain, excavation areas, slopes, mud, and loose materials. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform physical construction activities as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs . Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, wind, rain, dust, and direct sunlight. Must be able to wear all required PPE while on site. Work Environment Primarily based on an active commercial and heavy civil construction project. Regular exposure to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, excavation activities, underground utility work, noise, dust, vibration, uneven terrain, and changing outdoor weather conditions. Work may be performed near active construction crews, trenches, roadways, drainage systems, and other heavy civil operations. May require overtime, weekends, early morning shifts, or extended work hours based on project schedules and operational needs. #MEM-HAR
