In Person About Us Homefield Onsite Environmental is a growing septic and wastewater treatment company serving Ellis County and surrounding areas. We install, maintain, repair, and service residential and commercial onsite sewage facilities (OSSFs), with a focus on professional workmanship and exceptional customer service. We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator comfortable operating excavators, skid steers, and other construction equipment. Septic installation experience is preferred, but experienced operators from excavation, utility, plumbing, grading, or related construction backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Safely operate excavators, skid steers, and other construction equipment. Excavate and grade holes and trenches for septic tanks, treatment units, piping, and related components. Assist with residential septic and aerobic treatment system installations from site preparation through final backfill and walkthrough. Perform accurate excavation while minimizing property disturbance. Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment. Conduct daily inspections, greasing, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance on assigned trucks and equipment; coordinate scheduled maintenance with the shop. Lead and direct crew members when responsible for a job site. Maintain clean, organized, and professional work sites. Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures. Secure excavations and complete backfill safely and promptly. Assist with or coordinate required regulatory inspections. Support repairs, excavation projects, equipment moves, and smaller jobs as needed. Communicate job progress, concerns, material needs, and site conditions with the office. Provide professional customer communication throughout each project.
Compensation Expected annual compensation:
$55,000-$60,000, with additional earning opportunities based on production and responsibilities.
Compensation may include:
Guaranteed minimum base compensation during the current growth phase. $500 per completed residential system installation. Additional $200 bonus when rock excavation is required and invoiced. Additional production-based earnings for repairs, excavation, and smaller projects. Company-paid downtime for scheduled vehicle and equipment maintenance. Annual compensation and performance review. Long-term opportunity to transition to a higher-production, commission-based structure as territory volume increases. Qualifications Experience operating excavators and skid steers. Experience with digging, trenching, grading, and precision excavation. Septic, aerobic treatment system, excavation, utility, plumbing, or construction experience preferred. CDL is a plus. Ability to obtain and maintain required TCEQ licensing or registration, or willingness to work toward required credentials. Clean or good driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Comfortable performing basic equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Ability to work outdoors in Texas weather and perform the physical requirements of septic and construction work. Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards or willingness to learn. Willingness to learn Texas OSSF regulations and installation requirements. Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to safe, quality workmanship.
