August 7, 2026, or until filled The City of Neillsville is seeking a motivated, dependable individual to join our Public Works team as a Water Utility / Heavy Equipment Operator . This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of hands-on work, operating equipment, solving problems, and serving their community. This full-time position works primarily with the City's Water Utility while assisting the Wastewater Utility and other Public Works departments as needed. Every day brings something different—from maintaining water infrastructure and installing hydrants and meters to operating heavy equipment and supporting utility construction projects. What You'll Do Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the City's water utility system. Install and repair water mains, sewer mains, and service laterals. Install, maintain, and repair water treatment equipment and pump stations. Install and maintain water meters, radio-read equipment, and fire hydrants. Operate heavy equipment and assist with utility construction projects. Perform maintenance and repairs on City infrastructure. Participate in a rotating weekend/on-call schedule. Assist the Wastewater, Streets, Parks, and Cemetery Departments as needed. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid Wisconsin driver's license. Ability to obtain a Wisconsin Class B CDL within six months of hire. Ability to obtain Wisconsin DNR Water and Wastewater Operator certifications within three years of hire. Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Why Join Our Team?
