We're looking for skilled Underground Utility Laborers/Pipe Layers for projects in southeastern Wisconsin. As a laborer/pipe layer, you will assemble, install and or repair underground pipes and fittings. This includes, but not limited to, PVC pipe, ductile iron pipe, concrete pipe, and HDPE pipe for underground sewer, water and storm sewer work. Responsibilities Experience with installation of underground sanitary, watermain and storm sewer materials, valves and fittings (i.e. Sanitary (SDR 26 or 35), Watermain (C900 or Ductile Iron), Storm Sewer (RCP or HDPE) Familiar with trench box / shoring equipment and installation requirements Prepare the area in which pipes will be laid by directing trenching and grading Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench Perform functions of a laborer as required (i.e. use of hand tools) Maintaining and operating pneumatic and electric tools, such as partner saws, compactors, drills, etc. Direct equipment Operators with hand signals Utilization of instruments such as pipe lasers, rotary lasers, transit levels and grade rods Lifting, carrying, and holding materials, tools, and supplies Coordinate directly with Foreman for daily plan and work close with crew to meet daily production goals Good safety awareness and practices Requirements and skills Teamwork minded A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines Very good communication skills Problem-solving ability Very good physical strength and stamina CDL License is preferred, but not required Punctuality and dependability are required Must be able to work on your feet for 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends Affiliation with LiUNA Local 113 Laborers will be required Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
