Needham, Massachusetts Job Description As a Field Technician - Pipeline Services, you will support a fast-paced Pipeline Services team by performing field investigations and inspections of municipal wastewater collection systems. This role includes installing, calibrating, and maintaining wastewater flow meters while assisting with Sewer System Evaluation Surveys (SSES). Additional responsibilities include CCTV inspections, smoke testing, dye testing, manhole inspections, and building inspections. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding environment while maintaining accurate field documentation.
Position Responsibilities:
Install, calibrate, maintain, and retrieve wastewater flow meters Assist with Sewer System Evaluation Surveys (SSES) Perform manhole inspections to identify inflow and infiltration (I&I) issues Map sewer and storm drain manholes and other collection system structures Assist with CCTV pipeline inspections Perform smoke testing, dye testing, and building inspections Collect, maintain, and document field calibration records and inspection data Assist with traffic control using signs, cones, flags, and other work zone safety devices Work safely around roadways, confined spaces, and active municipal infrastructure Maintain equipment and ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety standards Communicate effectively with team members and project managers while completing field assignments
Position Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Science (or related) One (1) year of related field experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Massachusetts Driver's License with a good driving record Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements Physically capable of lifting equipment, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and performing manual labor Strong communication skills and professional demeanor Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to follow all safety policies and recognize workplace hazards Willingness to travel overnight and work occasional weekends as project needs require
