Benefits:
Seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
Be a part of the dynamic and unique team that makes the best snow in the east. This specialized team is responsible for making large volumes of high-quality snow on the trails and is in charge of maintaining snow guns, waterlines, hydrants and high pressure pumps. You must be safety conscious and able to hike and work in extreme weather conditions. This is a demanding job, but it offers reward in the pride of the product we produce.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Snowmakers will run snowmaking equipment for creating manufactured snow from water resources for slope side use Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment, including checking water pipes, fluid levels and volume, temperature controls, energy consumption, and diesel fuel systems Document and report mechanical and safety issues Complete maintenance logs and checklists Perform light maintenance or repairs on equipment Monitor water resources and reservoirs at resort and total energy usage
Basic Qualifications:
Must have basic mechanical skills. Training is provided Work in the outdoors in extreme cold 3 months of manual labor experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Learn and understand snowmaking systems and the mountain layout Set up, operate and maintain snowmaking equipment Be attentive to staff and guest safety Ability to work in extreme weather conditions Must have ability to carry, push, pull and lift up to 75lbs Must be able to wear hard-shell mountaineering boots and walk up and down ski trails. Typical week includes 4 - 12 hour shifts and overnight shifts. Overtime as needed Must be able to work nights/days, 12 hour shifts, weekends, and holidays Flexibility - we may rotate staff to other mountain operations positions as needed It is the policy of Killington/Pico Ski Resort Partners, LLC to provide equal opportunity and employment to all staff and applicants.
