Crane and Rigging Supervisor

Job Description

LOPEZADRI
is seeking an experienced Crane & Rigging Supervisor to join our logistics terminal operations in Laredo, Texas. This position will be responsible for supervising and coordinating crane operations, heavy lifting, rigging, loading, unloading, and material-handling activities involving heavy and oversized cargo. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong knowledge of rigging practices, crane safety, load control, and heavy-lift operations. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily crane and rigging operations at the terminal. Plan and oversee lifting, loading, unloading, positioning, and movement of heavy and oversized cargo . Direct crane operators, riggers, spotters, and other personnel involved in lifting operations. Review each lift and determine the appropriate rigging configuration, lifting points, slings/chains, shackles, spreader beams, and other equipment required. Verify load weights, equipment capacities, working load limits (WLL), lifting angles, and overall rigging configuration before operations begin. Conduct pre-lift meetings / toolbox talks and ensure personnel understand their responsibilities before each lift. Inspect cranes, chains, slings, shackles, hooks, spreader beams, tag lines, and other rigging equipment prior to use. Ensure proper use of tag lines and load-control procedures , particularly for large or wind-sensitive cargo. Establish and enforce safe working zones around crane and lifting operations. Monitor weather, wind, ground conditions, equipment condition, and other factors that could affect lifting safety. Stop any operation immediately when an unsafe condition is identified. Coordinate crane activities with terminal, warehouse, yard, transportation, and customer operations. Assist with the development and implementation of lift plans, Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JHA), SOPs, and safety procedures . Maintain inspection records and documentation related to crane and rigging operations. Train and mentor crane operators, riggers, spotters, and support personnel in proper lifting and rigging practices. Participate in incident investigations and corrective-action processes when required. Maintain a strong Safety First culture throughout terminal operations. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in crane, rigging, heavy-lift, industrial, construction, logistics, or similar operations. Previous supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of rigging practices, load handling, lifting equipment, load control, and crane safety . Ability to understand load weights, center of gravity, lifting points, sling angles, equipment capacities, and working load limits. Experience working with oversized and heavy cargo . Ability to inspect rigging equipment and identify unsafe or damaged components. Ability to read and understand lift plans, equipment specifications, technical drawings, and safety procedures. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to work outdoors in an active logistics-terminal environment. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred. Preferred Certifications NCCCO or equivalent crane/rigging certification Qualified Rigger / Signal Person certification OSHA safety training First Aid / CPR certification What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a crane operator. This position requires a leader who understands heavy-lift operations from planning through execution and who can confidently direct a crew while maintaining safety, efficiency, and control of every lift. The Crane & Rigging Supervisor will play an important role in expanding LOPEZADRI's capabilities for handling heavy, oversized, industrial, and project cargo at our Laredo terminal.
