Full Job Description About Inspired Play Hawaii:
Inspired Play is a leading provider of high-quality commercial playground equipment, safety surfacing, and recreational site amenities. We are dedicated to building safe, innovative, and engaging spaces for communities to gather and play. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to join our growing installation team.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Field Installer with a background in general construction. In this role, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end process of creating exceptional play and recreational environments. This is a position with significant room for growth, where you will receive direct training from our experienced installers and have the opportunity to lead projects. Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution:
Lead and manage on-site crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Site Preparation:
Perform tasks including demolition of existing structures, excavation, debris removal, site grading and leveling, and sub-base compaction.
Installation:
Accurately plot and dig footings to specified dimensions. Pour concrete footings, fabricating and installing rebar cages as required. Assemble and install structures, ensuring they are plumb, level, and securely fastened according to plans and manufacturer instructions. Install a variety of safety surfacing, including turf with padding systems and Poured-in-Place (PIP) rubber. Install shade systems, including the proper tensioning of fabric with cables and come-alongs.
On-Site Operations & Documentation:
Plan daily and weekly job tasks, including coordinating with crew, customers, and ordering local materials (e.g., concrete, equipment, refuse bins). Effectively troubleshoot and problem-solve unforeseen on-site challenges. Communicate project progress, challenges, and needs clearly with Project Management. Submit detailed daily reports with photos via email using an iPad or equivalent device. Maintain a professional and positive demeanor when interacting with clients and team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
Proven skill set in general construction with a strong understanding of core principles. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, plotting diagrams, and installation instructions. Key technical skills including grading, leveling, large-format material layout, precision cutting, and secure fastening techniques. Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites. Valid driver's license and the ability to drive a large work truck (CDL not required). Must possess your own general construction hand and power tools (e.g., impact gun, drill, level, etc.). Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and perform strenuous physical labor in various outdoor weather conditions. Technologically proficient with the ability to use an iPad/tablet, email, and basic software (Word, spreadsheets, PDFs). Strong commitment to job site safety and quality craftsmanship. Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Reliable, punctual, with a proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative. Must have proper identification for travel between islands. Ability to pass background checks required for access to job sites, including schools and military installations. Preferred Experience (A Plus): Direct experience in commercial playground installation. Experience with artificial turf and/or Poured-in-Place rubber safety surfacing installation. Proficiency in concrete work (forming, pouring, finishing). Experience installing sports equipment such as overhead basketball systems, wall padding, volleyball posts, athletic curtains, and bleachers. Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, mini-excavator).
