About Nabu Energy Nabu Energy is a growing renewable energy company serving the Bay Area and specializing in Solar PV (Photovoltaic) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for residential and small commercial customers. We are seeking an experienced Lead Solar PV & Energy Storage Systems Installer to perform and lead Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, safe installation practices, technical problem-solving, and excellent customer service. Position Summary The Lead Solar PV & Energy Storage Systems Installer is responsible for leading and performing residential and small commercial Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations in accordance with project plans, manufacturer specifications, applicable electrical and building requirements, safety standards, permitting requirements, and company procedures. This position combines hands-on installation responsibilities for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems with crew leadership, electrical troubleshooting, quality control, documentation, system commissioning, and customer-service responsibilities. Essential Functions Lead and perform installation of residential and small commercial Solar PV systems, including PV modules, racking, flashings, roof attachments, inverters, optimizers, and associated equipment. Lead and perform installation of residential and small commercial Energy Storage Systems (ESS), including battery energy-storage equipment, associated electrical equipment, and system components. Install and route conduit, wiring, disconnects, equipment, and other electrical components associated with Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Install and connect Solar PV and Energy Storage System equipment in accordance with project plans, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and permitting requirements. Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, construction plans, blueprints, equipment specifications, and technical documentation for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Perform Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations on various roof types, including composition shingle, tile, and metal roofs. Perform trenching and ground-mount Solar PV installations when required. Perform installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Take and upload Solar PV and Energy Storage System installation photographs and required documentation to the company's designated cloud system. Inspect completed Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations for quality, accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with project requirements. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, equipment, wiring, communication, inverter, battery, and other installation-related issues associated with Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Use appropriate electrical diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, project personnel, inspectors, and other parties involved in Solar PV and Energy Storage System projects. Lead installation crews and provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to less-experienced installers working on Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations. Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition. Follow applicable safety requirements, including OSHA standards, electrical-safety practices, fall-protection requirements, and Nabu Energy safety procedures. Follow applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, electrical codes, building codes, permitting requirements, and manufacturer requirements applicable to Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Technical Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems used in Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and construction documents for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and electrical safety practices applicable to Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations. Familiarity with applicable NFPA standards and electrical installation requirements for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and Energy Storage System equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques. Understanding of Solar PV system components, including PV modules, racking, inverters, optimizers, disconnects, grounding and bonding, conduit, and associated equipment. Understanding of Energy Storage System components, including batteries, battery management systems, inverters, disconnects, controls, communications equipment, and associated electrical equipment. Hands-on experience working as a Solar PV technician, Solar PV installer, Energy Storage System installer, electrical installer, or in renewable-energy projects involving Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Qualifications At least 3 years of residential Solar PV installation experience. Experience installing Solar PV and/or Energy Storage Systems from start to finish. Experience with residential and/or small commercial Energy Storage Systems strongly preferred. Small commercial Solar PV and Energy Storage System installation experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical schematics, construction plans, blueprints, installation manuals, and technical documentation for Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and equipment commonly used in Solar PV and Energy Storage System construction and installation. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Ability to lead installation crews and communicate professionally with customers and coworkers. Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. A valid California driver's license may be required when driving a company vehicle or otherwise performing job duties that require driving. Applicants must meet Nabu Energy's applicable vehicle-insurance and driving-safety requirements. Physical & Environmental Requirements The essential functions of this position may require the employee to: Climb and descend ladders and work on residential and small commercial rooftops while installing Solar PV systems and Energy Storage System equipment. Work at heights for extended periods. Frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for extended periods. Work in attics, crawl spaces, electrical equipment areas, and other confined or restricted areas where required for Solar PV and Energy Storage System installations. Work outdoors and be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, direct sunlight, and other changing weather conditions. Safely use ladders, fall-protection systems, hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and other job-related equipment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow applicable fall-protection and other safety procedures. Work Schedule & Hours This is a full-time, nonexempt hourly position. Employees in this position will generally be scheduled for approximately 32-40 hours per week, depending on Solar PV and Energy Storage System project availability, workload, weather, customer schedules, and other legitimate business needs. The position does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week, and Nabu Energy does not guarantee a minimum number of hours unless otherwise required by law or an applicable written agreement. Schedules may vary from week to week. Employees are expected to report to work at their scheduled times and remain available for the hours assigned. All hours actually worked must be accurately recorded. Employees will be paid for all time worked and will receive overtime compensation when required by California law. Employees must obtain authorization before working overtime when company policy requires advance authorization. Authorization requirements do not eliminate Nabu Energy's obligation to pay for hours actually worked. Meal and rest periods will be provided in accordance with applicable California law.
