Position Overview TFG LA is hiring a dependable, detail-oriented Transcriber to produce accurate, well-structured written records of public board meetings for a state agency client in Costa Mesa, CA. You will convert audio/video recordings of monthly board meetings into clean, formatted transcripts that become part of the official public record — accuracy, consistency, and on-time delivery are everything. This is a recurring contract role with a predictable calendar — ideal for an experienced freelance transcriptionist looking for steady monthly work. Multilingual ability (English/Spanish preferred) is a strong plus for public-comment segments and related localization work.
Schedule Board meetings:
one Thursday per month at 9:30 AM (no meetings in July or August) 2026 dates: Sept 24

Dec 17, plus one Budget Study Session the week of Nov 9 (date TBD) 2027 dates follow the same monthly cadence Transcription is completed remotely after each meeting; meeting attendance may be requested for context
Turnaround:
final transcript due within the agreed delivery window after each meeting You must be reliably available on the scheduled Thursday mornings and able to meet turnaround deadlines every month. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to the full meeting calendar.
Responsibilities Transcribe audio and video recordings of board meetings into written format with high accuracy and attention to detail Ensure transcripts are clear, grammatically correct, and formatted consistently to the client's guidelines Correctly identify and attribute speakers (board members, staff, public commenters) Review and edit transcripts for accuracy, completeness, and linguistic quality before delivery Manage terminology consistency across meetings (agency titles, agenda items, motions, votes) Interpret or localize non-English public comment when needed, preserving original meaning Coordinate with the TFG account lead to meet deadlines and quality standards Requirements Proven transcription experience (board, legal, medical, or meeting minutes strongly preferred) Superior typing speed with high accuracy; comfortable with audio transcription tools and foot pedal / playback software Excellent written English — grammar, punctuation, and formatting Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple recordings and deadlines Reliable computer, headset, and internet connection for remote work Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish (Language proficiency level 3 or higher) Familiarity with public-agency or Brown Act meeting formats Knowledge of translation software or terminology databases Compensation $125 flat per meeting , paid on delivery of the approved transcript Independent contractor (1099) engagement — 10 scheduled meetings in 2026 plus one budget study session Paid via direct deposit through TFG's Logix Pro platform How to Apply Apply at api.logixproapp.com/apply and select Transcriber — Costa Mesa (OC Fair) .
