Town of Day, New York Day Town Hall | $19.28 per hour | Approximately 15 hours per week Job Summary The Town of Day is seeking a dependable and organized part-time General Office Clerk. This position provides clerical support to several Town departments and assists the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with the public, preparing documents, taking meeting minutes, and using Microsoft Office programs. Primary Responsibilities
Attend Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
Prepare, post, and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and application materials.
Respond to basic telephone and email inquiries from residents and applicants.
Assist the Code Enforcement Officer and Town Assessor with general clerical duties.
Review employee timesheets and prepare payroll summary information.
Receive and record Planning and Zoning application fees.
Assist with annual Board of Assessment Review duties.
Maintain accurate files and records and perform other general office duties as needed. Meeting Schedule Planning Board meetings are generally held on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Zoning Board of Appeals meetings are generally held on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held only when there is business on the agenda. Qualifications
Associate degree in office management, business administration, secretarial science, or a related field; OR
High school diploma or GED and at least two years of clerical experience using a computer. Preferred Skills
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and general office equipment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to prepare accurate meeting minutes and meet deadlines.
Professional, courteous, and comfortable working with the public.
Training will be provided for Town-specific computer programs and procedures. The Town of Day is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
