Job Description

Board Member, Major Donor & Corporate Partnerships Volunteer Opportunity Homeward Pet Adoption Center transforms the lives of cats and dogs in need through compassionate medical care, positive behavior support, and successful adoption while building a more humane community. As one of the region's leading animal welfare organizations, we provide lifesaving care, adoption services, and education while serving as a trusted community resource for responsible pet ownership. With support from the Philanthropy Committee and Homeward staff, Board Members help to: Expand community awareness and engagement Strengthen philanthropic support and fundraising efforts Build corporate and community partnerships Advance Homeward Pet's long-term sustainability Who We're Looking For We are seeking well-connected community leaders who are passionate about animal welfare and ready to use their expertise, relationships, and influence to advance our mission. Ideal candidates bring experience in one or more of the following areas: Major donor development Corporate partnerships and sponsorships Public relations, media, communications, and storytelling Community leadership and relationship-building Candidates with strong relationships across greater Seattle and the Eastside business communities are especially encouraged to apply. Prior nonprofit board or advisory experience is preferred, but not required. Board Member Commitment All prospective Board Members begin with a minimum three-month Associate Board Member onboarding period to learn about Homeward Pet's mission, programs, leadership team, and board culture.
Board Members are expected to:
Attend board meetings approximately 8-9 times per year (typically held on the last Monday of the month at 6:30 PM) Meetings alternate between virtual and in-person at Homeward Pet in Woodinville Participate on at least one board committee Attend the annual Board Retreat Engage in fundraising, ambassador, and community-building activities throughout the year The Impact You Will Make Board Members play a critical role in shaping strategy, strengthening sustainability, expanding community support, and helping more pets find loving homes.
