Job Description

Our Global Procurement team plays a critical role in sourcing the direct and indirect materials, capex, and services that power our operations.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement professional to join our Global Procurement team. This role is critical to supporting the capital equipment strategy associated with the Nippon/USS transaction and will work closely with engineering and operations teams to source and manage procurement of high-value capital assets. The ideal candidate will bring experience in equipment procurement at U. S. Steel. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract execution. Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to define technical specifications and procurement timelines. Support capital project planning by providing cost estimates, lead time analysis, and supplier capability assessments. Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives and deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation. Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions and support innovation. Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field. Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills. Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry. Familiarity with the Nippon/USS transaction or similar M&A-driven capital initiatives. Knowledge of global sourcing and supplier qualification processes. Why Join Us?
