This role is responsible for sourcing raw materials, tooling, and indirect supplies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing purchasing, with a strong understanding of supply chain coordination, cost management, and quality requirements. This role directly supports production continuity by ensuring timely availability of materials, supplier performance, and cost-effective procurement aligned with customer delivery and quality requirements. Duties Procurement & Purchasing Source and purchase raw materials (e.g., steel coils, stampings), tooling components, and indirect supplies required for production and facility operations Issue purchase orders and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery aligned with production schedules Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory Expedite orders as needed to prevent production delays or downtime Supplier Management Develop and maintain relationships with approved suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met Evaluate supplier performance (delivery, quality, responsiveness) and support corrective actions as needed Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms in alignment with company objectives Coordinate with suppliers regarding order changes, shortages, and quality concerns Metal Stamping Operations Support Collaborate with Production, Planning, Tooling, and Quality teams to understand material requirements and priorities Ensure availability of materials required for stamping operations, including coils, components, and tooling-related items Support new product launches by sourcing materials and coordinating supplier readiness Inventory & Cost Control Monitor inventory levels and consumption patterns to ensure accurate forecasting and replenishment Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier sourcing, consolidation, or process improvements Support efforts to reduce material costs, scrap, and excess inventory Compliance & Documentation Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and quality system requirements (e.g., IATF 16949 / ISO standards) Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and supplier documentation Support supplier audits and maintain approved supplier lists (ASL) as applicable Continuous Improvement Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and supplier performance Assist in resolving supply chain disruptions and implementing corrective and preventive actions Requirements Minimum of 4 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or metal stamping environment Experience sourcing raw materials (steel, metals) and production-related components Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and inventory management Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory control, and vendor management Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail Effective negotiation and communication skills Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to supply disruptions Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing/ERP systems Work Environment & Physical Requirements Office-based role within a manufacturing environment with frequent interaction with production teams Occasional time spent on the manufacturing floor to support operations and material flow Required use of PPE when entering production areas
