Purchase Buyer, Manufactured Details Job description: The company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchase Buyer to support procurement activities for manufactured-fabricated and machined components used in automation and custom equipment projects. The Purchase Buyer will be responsible for managing the complete procurement process, including supplier sourcing, RFQ management, cost analysis, negotiations, purchase order execution, supplier communication, and ensuring compliance with company's purchasing procedures and ERP approval requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience purchasing custom manufactured components and demonstrate strong ownership, urgency, negotiation skills, and the ability to support projects with aggressive delivery timelines.

Job responsibilities:
  • Procurement & ERP Compliance Follow company's Purchasing SOPs and ERP approval/signing authority processes.
  • Review purchase indents and initiate RFQ/sourcing activities immediately.
  • Complete procurement activities within required project timelines.
  • Maintain complete PO documentation, including supplier quotes, cost comparisons, approvals, and negotiated pricing.
  • Ensure purchase orders are approved through the ERP workflow prior to supplier release.
Responsible for sourcing and purchasing:

CNC machined components

Fabricated parts and assemblies

Weldments and structural components

Sheet metal fabrication

Laser cut and formed components

Fixtures, brackets, and custom mechanical assemblies

Surface finishing (painting, powder coating, plating)

Aluminum extrusions and hardware

Supplier Management & Cost Control:

Develop and maintain qualified supplier relationships.

Obtain competitive quotes from multiple suppliers when applicable.

Review drawings, specifications, and BOM requirements for accurate quoting.

Complete cost comparisons and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.

Identify alternate suppliers, materials, and cost-saving opportunities.

Monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, and escalation items.

Procurement Execution:

Prioritize urgent project requirements and support on-time delivery.

Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Stores, Quality, and Accounts Payable to resolve issues.

Manage open PO status and supplier commitments.

Support continuous improvement and purchasing initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

1-5 years of Purchasing Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

Experience with ERP purchasing systems and Microsoft Office.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

Strong ownership, communication, and supplier management skills.

Ability to travel periodically to suppliers and project sites.

Preferred Requirements:

2-5 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or machining.

Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.
