General Manager Position Summary The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining an adequate supply of materials, equipment, and services necessary to support company operations. This position works closely with vendors, production, accounting, and management to ensure materials are purchased at the best value while maintaining quality standards and delivery schedules. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Purchase raw materials, supplies, tools, and equipment according to company needs. Solicit quotes from vendors and negotiate pricing, delivery, and payment terms. Create and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock to prevent shortages or excess inventory. Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, and delivery. Track purchase orders and ensure timely receipt of goods. Resolve issues related to damaged, incorrect, or delayed shipments. Coordinate with receiving personnel to verify deliveries and address discrepancies. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and pricing information. Work with accounting to reconcile invoices and resolve purchasing discrepancies. Research new suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings. Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures. Assist with annual inventory counts and inventory control initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of purchasing, inventory control, or related experience preferred. Manufacturing experience is preferred. Knowledge of structural steel is required. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to analyze data and make sound purchasing decisions. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of purchasing and inventory management principles. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to build effective working relationships with vendors and internal departments. High level of integrity and confidentiality. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds. Ability to walk through warehouse and manufacturing areas as needed. Work Environment Office environment with occasional exposure to a manufacturing facility. Standard work schedule with occasional overtime as business needs require.
