Job Description

Our Global Procurement team plays a critical role in sourcing the direct and indirect materials, capex, and services that power our operations.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement professional to join our Global Procurement team. This role is critical to supporting the capital equipment strategy associated with the Nippon/USS transaction and will work closely with engineering and operations teams to source and manage procurement of high-value capital assets. The ideal candidate will bring experience in equipment procurement at U. S. Steel. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to define technical specifications and procurement timelines.
  • Support capital project planning by providing cost estimates, lead time analysis, and supplier capability assessments.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives and deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions and support innovation.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry.
  • Familiarity with the Nippon/USS transaction or similar M&A-driven capital initiatives.
