Job Description

A globally recognized logistics leader is seeking an experienced, independent Ocean Import Coordinator to join their Wood Dale team. This position is designed for a logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at problem-solving, and enjoys serving as a reliable resource for a collaborative team.
What You'll Do:
Manage end-to-end FCL and LCL ocean import operations from arrival through final delivery and billing. Coordinate inland dispatch across drayage, FTL, LTL, and flatbed transportation. Handle complex operations, including project cargo, heavy freight, and non-standard shipments. Serve as the primary communication link between ocean carriers, truckers, warehouses, customs brokers, overseas offices, and customers. Proactively monitor vessel arrivals, container availability, free time, and delivery schedules to prevent delays. Handle accurate billing, vendor charge reviews, and operational record-keeping. Support team members by sharing expertise and helping resolve complex operational challenges. Required Qualifications Several years of hands-on ocean import experience Strong knowledge of FCL and LCL operations Experience with customer service, shipment follow-up, dispatch, and billing Experience arranging or coordinating FTL and LTL transportation Ability to independently manage shipments from arrival through final delivery and billing Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound operational decisions Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex shipments with limited supervision Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with customers, truckers, carriers, warehouses, brokers, and overseas offices Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics or transportation systems Preferred Qualifications Experience coordinating flatbed or specialized trucking Experience with project cargo, heavy cargo, machinery, steel products, or other non-standard freight Experience with rail or intermodal shipments Familiarity with ports, rail ramps, CFS facilities, and container terminals Previous experience with an international freight forwarder or NVOCC Experience supporting or guiding other operations staff is a plus #
INDEGV Pay:
$60,000.00 per year
