SVP & General Counsel J. R. Hobbs is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Construction Contracts Manager / Legal Operations Specialist to support our growing construction business and legal operations function. This is a unique opportunity for a legal, paralegal, contract administration, or construction documentation professional who enjoys working at the intersection of contracts, operations, risk management, and technology. In this role, you will help manage the construction contract lifecycle, coordinate important project documentation, support insurance and bonding requirements, track execution status, and serve as a key administrative and legal operations resource for the SVP & General Counsel. You will work closely with Sales, Operations, Project Management, Accounting, Subcontracting, and company leadership to help keep contracts moving, documents organized, and critical information visible. This position is well suited for someone who takes pride in accuracy, follow-through, clear writing, and practical problem solving. It is also a strong fit for someone interested in using AI and modern technology tools to improve document quality, contract workflows, proofreading, summarization, task tracking, and legal operations efficiency. What You Will Do
- Manage contract administration workflows from project award through final execution and filing.
- Track contract status, missing documents, redlines, signatures, insurance requirements, bonds, prequalification packages, licenses, and related project records.
- Review contracts and project documents for completeness and coordinate internal review of terms, conditions, scope items, and supporting documents.
- Compare final execution copies against redlines to help confirm that agreed revisions are included before signature.
- Prepare contract sign-off communications and facilitate electronic signature workflows.
- Create and maintain organized project folders, contract records, legal files, checklists, logs, and workflow trackers.
- Support certificates of insurance, bond applications, OCIP/CCIP enrollment, prequalification submissions, license renewals, insurance renewals, and claim tracking.
- Assist the SVP & General Counsel with legal document organization, proofreading, correspondence, matter support, records gathering, and workflow administration.
- Use company-approved AI tools and technology to improve proofreading, document comparison, contract summaries, workflow tracking, and legal operations processes. What We Are Looking For
- Experience in legal support, paralegal work, contract administration, construction administration, project documentation, or a comparable professional environment.
- Strong writing, proofreading, organization, follow-up, and communication skills.
- Comfort handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Interest in AI, automation, and technology-enabled workflow improvement. Preferred Background
- Paralegal certificate, legal studies coursework, or prior law firm or in-house legal department experience.
- Experience with construction contracts, insurance requirements, bonding, licensing, prequalification packages, OCIP/CCIP programs, or change order documentation.
- Familiarity with Davis-Bacon documentation or Section 3 requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint/OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, electronic signature platforms, PDF editing/comparison tools, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar systems.
