Job Description

Overview Responsible for supervising the daily activities of the unit utilizing quality and cost-effective patient care principles to including operations, staffing levels, and employee relations. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional emergency medicine knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Collaborates with physicians and other health care workers, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care while maintaining a practice environment that reflects the UnityPoint Health-FOCUS values in accordance with state Department of Public Health regulations. Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health. Responsibilities Leadership Paramedic staffed on the truck each week, evaluates daily staffing needs. Collaborates with others in the leadership team to facilitate adjustments that meet department need. Commits to the hours needed to achieve outcomes and develop others to assure round-the-clock leadership. Requires flexibility with hours worked and shifting priorities as the environment changes. Serves as a resource in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of emergency care in the clinical departments. Assists in creating a positive work environment that contributes to safe and positive clinical outcomes. Assists with providing a thorough and adequate orientation program for new staff . Lead competency training, CQI, and continuing education programming to ensure staff development needs are met for the department. Completes EMS schedule and payroll Participate in Jones County EMS meetings when needed, also a voting member for Anamosa Area Ambulance Service. Assist with drug box checks, maintenance on ambulances, ensuring supplies and equipment are stocked and maintained.

Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, providers and administration to advance the core patient business strategy. Supports and empowers staff to act with appropriate responsibility for the work processes and work environment of which they are a part. Evokes in staff a sense of ownership of and accountability for their work. As well as stimulate staff to continuously improve their performance. Professional Development Supports a thorough and adequate orientation program for new staff and continued education for all staff. Field Training Officer for all levels in EMS. Supports the adequate competency training and continuing education programming is done to meet identified staff development needs. Supports department and hospital shared governance infrastructure and staff engagement. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Iowa Paramedic License Iowa Driver's License 2+ years of leadership experience
BLS ACLS PALS
Writes, reads, speaks, and comprehends fluent English Excellent knowledge of emergency medical procedures and protocols Ability to successfully complete basic computer course; develops and maintains necessary computer skills including ImageTrend, Aladtec, Word and Excel.
