Job Description
SUMMARY The Area Marketing Director is responsible for planning and executing public relations and marketing programs to maintain and grow the facility's resident census. This includes conducting hospital rounds to identify potential residents, coordinating referrals, and performing in-person assessments to evaluate care needs. The role also involves developing and maintaining relationships with hospital personnel and ensuring that all admission paperwork is completed according to company guidelines. Additionally, the position requires maintaining referral logs and preparing weekly business development plans.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and Implement Marketing Strategies:
Plan, develop, organize, and evaluate public relations and marketing programs to maintain and increase the resident census. Provide the community with up-to-date information on the facility's programs, services, and practices.
Census Management:
Meet or exceed census targets by identifying and engaging potential patients/residents in assigned hospitals who are in need of post-acute services.
Referral Coordination:
Ensure all referrals are processed efficiently by following company guidelines, with a goal of review and action within 30 minutes. Collect and communicate accurate discharge plans from physicians, patients/residents, and referral sources to the interdisciplinary team.
In-Person Assessments:
Perform thorough in-person assessments to evaluate the care needs of potential patients/residents prior to admission, ensuring the facility can meet their needs.
Sales Activity Tracking:
Maintain a daily referral log to reflect ongoing sales activity, and prepare a comprehensive weekly report for submission to your supervisor.
Business Development Planning:
Develop and execute weekly business development plans, focusing on strategies to build and maintain census.
Relationship Management:
Build and sustain strong relationships with referral sources, including hospital personnel, to facilitate smooth admissions and continuous referral flow.
Admission Documentation:
Ensure all admission paperwork is accurately completed in line with company guidelines, supporting smooth transitions for new residents. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Proven experience in business development, strategic planning, or related roles. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and insights. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Minimum of three years of sales and marketing experience in a healthcare setting. Strong clinical assessment skills. Thorough understanding of the Long-Term Care market and referral sources, including acute care markets.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Proven history of achieving or exceeding established census goals. Experience working with an insurance company, private case management company, or HMO. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Previous experience in developing and implementing successful business development strategies.
