Job Description

We are hiring an experienced Box Truck Dispatcher to manage daily freight operations for our growing trucking company. The dispatcher will be responsible for finding and booking profitable loads, communicating with brokers and drivers, planning routes, tracking shipments, handling rate confirmations, and keeping trucks moving efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Search and book loads through DAT, Truckstop, and other load boards Negotiate rates with brokers Dispatch multiple 26-ft box trucks Communicate with drivers throughout pickup and delivery Track driver location and shipment status Plan loads around driver Hours of Service (HOS) Confirm pickup and delivery appointments Review rate confirmations for detention, layover, tracking, deductions, and special requirements Minimize deadhead and maximize weekly truck revenue Find reloads before trucks become empty whenever possible Handle delays, breakdowns, missed appointments, and other issues professionally
Requirements:
Previous trucking dispatch experience strongly preferred Box truck dispatch experience preferred Strong knowledge of the U.S. map, states, major cities, highways, interstates, regions, and freight lanes Must understand realistic driving distances and transit times Must be able to do basic math quickly in your head Must be able to rapidly calculate rate per mile, deadhead miles, total loaded miles, estimated fuel cost, percentages, driver/carrier splits, and whether a load is profitable Must be comfortable making quick calculations while negotiating with brokers on the phone Ability to quickly determine whether a load makes geographical and financial sense Familiarity with strong and weak freight markets throughout the United States Experience using DAT, Truckstop, or similar load boards Strong rate negotiation skills Understanding of HOS and legal transit times Good communication and organizational skills Ability to manage several trucks at the same time Reliable computer, phone, and internet access This is a fast-paced position. We need someone who can look at a load and quickly understand the miles, rate per mile, deadhead, delivery time, next market, and overall profitability without relying on a calculator for every decision. Successful dispatching is not just about booking loads. You must know where the truck is, where it is going, what the load actually pays per mile, what markets are nearby, and how to position the truck for the next profitable move.
Pay:
$700.00 - $2,000.00 per week
