TIME TELECOMMUNICATOR

QComm911 is currently accepting applications for Full-Time 9-1-1 Telecommunicator. QComm911 (Illinois Quad Cities Communications Center) is a multi-jurisdictional dispatch center providing 9-1-1 and emergency communications services for East Moline, Milan, Moline, Silvis, and other contracted districts and municipalities. Last year, QComm911 answered 95,950 emergency 9-1-1 calls and 176,721 non-emergency calls, coordinating response for police, fire, and EMS across the Illinois Quad Cities. As a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator, you will be the critical first point of contact for citizens requesting emergency assistance. This fast-paced position is responsible for answering 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, gathering and documenting critical information, dispatching police, fire, and EMS personnel, monitoring radio communications, and providing pre-arrival medical (EMD) instructions when needed. Key Responsibilities Answer and process emergency and non-emergency calls Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system Monitor multiple radio channels and talk groups and maintain communications with fire and police personnel Accurately document incident information through CAD and provide timely updates Provide pre-arrival medical instructions (EMD) in accordance with established protocols Establish priorities in accordance with the seriousness of events during multiple, simultaneous emergencies Coordinate interdepartmental and inter-jurisdictional responses across police, fire, and ambulance personnel Train new employees Work effectively in a high-stress, team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism Material and Equipment Used Computer-Aided Dispatch System

• 9-1-1 Telephone System Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age at the time of hire High school diploma or GED equivalent; experience in handling emergency situations preferred Ability to type with reasonable speed and accuracy Successfully complete the hiring process, including skills testing, oral interview, job shadow, background investigation, physical and psychological examination, and drug screening Ability to obtain and maintain Illinois LEADS certification and IAED Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification within six (6) months of hire Bi-lingual skills highly desirable QComm911 is a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week operation, and all applicants must have the ability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Overtime opportunities are regularly available. Lateral Transfer Incentive Experienced 9-1-1 dispatchers may qualify for accelerated pay placement. Applicants who have worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher at any agency within the past 5 years may transfer in with credit for up to 10 years of equivalent service applied toward their starting pay. Work is performed in a high call volume emergency dispatch environment where the dispatcher must remain alert and responsive for uninterrupted periods; may be subject to extended work periods without relief, periods of high call volume, and stressful situations.

Benefits Starting wage:
