Job Description

Good Oil Company, family-owned and operated chain of convenience stores and fuel transportation, is seeking a Dispatcher to work out of our Winamac headquarters.
Qualifications:
Logistics background preferred but not mandatory. This person must be able to function independently and as part of a team. This person must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, have great attention to detail, be able to prioritize tasks and skilled at multitasking and communicating with internal and external customers.

Dispatch Manager Job Summary :
The Dispatcher plays an essential role in optimizing Good Transportations truck and carrier fleet movements in order to maximize company margin which directly affect corporate profits. The Transport Scheduling organization is responsible for optimizing and scheduling the movements of transports (trucks), common carrier and tank wagon deliveries to Good to Go owned stores, Dealer locations, commercial & industrial accounts and other external customers. This includes coordinating the movements of gasoline, diesel, biofuels, and other fuels across the supply chain. It is also the responsibility of this position to analyze pricing and determine the best pull points to enhance margin for both the company and customer. You will work closely with other dispatchers to ensure they are sourcing the right product and are delivering to our customers in a timely manner to prevent any runouts.
Basic Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing, optimizing and ultimately scheduling product movements via company transports, common carriers and tank wagons primarily within Indiana and surrounding states
  • Working closely with the respective operations personnel (dispatchers, drivers, terminal personnel, product suppliers and other customers) to maximize margin and transport efficiencies
  • Managing common carriers to provide greatest value to customers
  • Fully utilizing the inventory management and truck optimization software and helping to enhance performance tools
  • Work directly with other suppliers to expand freight business
  • Bulk Ticket Billing
  • Freight Billing
  • Control transportation inventories of fuel, additives, lubricants and other materials
  • Managing customer inventory levels set by company policy and ensuring proper scheduling to prevent runouts and maximize fleet efficiency
  • Building a professional and constructive relationship among internal and external customers
  • Ability to fully train incoming dispatchers
  • Assist with Nightly Pricing and Pull Points for Common Carriers
  • Analyzing customer usage and notifying the transportation team to better anticipate influx in usage, especially around Holidays and special events
  • Involved in rotation to send nightly pricing and on call for transportation driver needs
  • Other tasks as assigned by management
  • Fill in on Dispatch when necessary

  • Must have strong analytical, communication, and team building skills
  • Must be dependable, well organized, and an effective time manager
  • Must demonstrate the ability to provide effective direct feedback to supervisor as well as other Good Transportation employees
  • Must have the ability to clearly, concisely, and professionally communicate information through good verbal and written skills
  • Must be a "team player," that is, one who enjoys working closely with other staff members, and has the ability to be flexible, adaptive, and positive in his/her interactions with others including peers, and others with whom Good Transportation interacts with
  • Must maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Must be strongly proficient in the use of Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, Access, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to multi-task and problem solve
  • Must have a valid drivers license
Physical Demands of Position:
  • Must be able to do extensive walking and do physical labor (that involves lifting and bending)
  • Ability to be comfortable working on a computer and communicating with customers and employees via the phone and email
  • Able to meet regular, and sometimes short, deadlines on documentation, correspondence, and other assignments
  • When on call must be able to answer calls, texts, and e-mails
Working Conditions:
Holiday Dispatch Rotation/ along with filling in when dispatcher is on vacation, sick, or as needed
