JOB DESCRIPTION

The Law Enforcement Dispatcher must be committed to serving our community with honor, courage, and integrity, while enhancing the quality of life in our community. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher position is subject to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and call back duty. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for operating a centralized telephone switchboard, referring incoming calls, and operating radio/telephone recording equipment. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for answering telephones and radio calls and accurately relaying information from citizens to deputies and other law enforcement agencies. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for entering information into the

NCIC/LINK

System and the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining a computerized shift log, maintaining extensive case jacket filing systems, and monitoring court room panic alarm systems. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is expected to understand how to prioritize and respond to conflicting needs for service/information from the general public and deputies in the field. The Law Enforcement Dispatcher must be able to maintain control and composure in situations ranging from antagonistic telephone callers to life threatening emergencies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have a high level of professionalism. Must be able to multi-task in a stressful working environment. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be a High School Graduate or have a GED. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and shall not have been convicted of a felony offense or any violent offense (misdemeanor or felony). Have not been terminated or forced to resign within the twelve months preceding the submission of the application. Have been a law abiding citizen and maintained a law-abiding lifestyle.
