Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated communication team as a Police Dispatcher, where you will play a vital role in ensuring swift, accurate, and professional response to law enforcement and public safety calls. In this energetic position, you will coordinate emergency responses, manage radio and telephone communications, and utilize advanced dispatch software to support police operations. Your proactive approach and excellent communication skills will help maintain safety and order in our community while providing exceptional service to callers in critical situations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to public safety through dynamic and meaningful work. Dispatch works 12 hours shifts with rotating weekends off. Responsibilities Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio systems, ensuring prompt response. Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software to log incidents, dispatch units, and track response activities accurately. Operate radio communication systems to coordinate law enforcement units efficiently during emergencies. Perform phone triage by gathering essential information from callers, assessing the situation, and providing instructions or guidance as needed. Maintain clear, concise, and professional communication with law enforcement officers Apply police dispatch procedures to handle various scenarios including accidents, crimes in progress, medical emergencies, and public safety concerns. Use GIS (Geographic Information System) tools and GPS technology to identify incident locations precisely. Document all communications thoroughly with accurate transcription of details for incident reports. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by remaining calm under pressure and managing difficult or distressed callers with professionalism. Qualifications Proficiency with GIS mapping tools, GPS devices, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software is preferred. Complete 40 hours Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System Class Knowledge of police dispatch procedures, radio communication systems, and emergency communication protocols is essential. Strong analysis skills for assessing situations quickly and making sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on phone etiquette and conflict management. Technical proficiency in telephony systems, typing speed, transcription accuracy, and computer operation is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail during high-stress incidents. Demonstrated customer service orientation with a calm demeanor in emergency situations.
