Responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of all materials and equipment utilized within the Lancaster Municipal Gas Department. The person in this position shall keep all inventory records, including meters and regulators, current on a daily basis. The person in this position shall maintain a working relationship with all relevant suppliers and maintain records of the current contact persons. Employee shall maintain and dispatch all work orders, daily work sheets, etc. associated with the Lancaster Municipal Gas Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follows all safety precautions. Must have knowledge of all materials and equipment available to the natural gas industry. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with manufacturing suppliers and repair vendors. Assist the Assistant Superintendent and Construction Supervisors to specify, recommend and purchase materials for all current and future Gas Department projects. This includes maintenance of an adequate supply of all related materials and equipment along with spare components for repairs and rebuilds. Obtain written quotes for materials and equipment to be purchased and ensure that all corresponding receipts and billings are in compliance with the associated pre-purchase agreements. Maintain all appropriate records to satisfy the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), Department of Transportation-Office of Pipeline Safety (DOT-OPS), State of Ohio Inventory Auditors and City of Lancaster requirements. Shall periodically be assigned to work within other areas of the Gas Department. Employee shall direct all communications via telephone and/or radio to the proper personnel. Employee shall be subject to random drug testing per DOT 49 CFR, Ch. 1, Part 199. Employee shall perform all other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of one (1) year working within the natural gas industry. Familiarity with the standard practices and procedures used within the natural gas industry. Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license and continued insurability with the Lancaster Municipal Gas Department's vehicle insurance provider. Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Access Excel and application specific hardware and software related to automatic regulator and measurement control. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, drug testing, criminal background check and driver's license check. Probationary period per the AFSCME contract. Please note that as a recipient of federal funds, the City of Lancaster is required to comply with the federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
