Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Respiratory Therapy to lead our respiratory care services with passion and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of respiratory therapy programs across various departments, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Your leadership will inspire a team of skilled respiratory therapists while collaborating closely with clinical staff to optimize treatment outcomes. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all respiratory therapy operations within the hospital or healthcare facility. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures aligned with best practices in respiratory care, critical care, and emergency medicine. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate respiratory therapy staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and specialists in pulmonology, pediatrics, neonatology, and trauma to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as JCAHO, OSHA, and state licensing requirements while maintaining accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR). Oversee the management of advanced respiratory equipment including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, airway management devices, and neonatal resuscitation procedures. Lead quality assurance initiatives focused on patient safety, ventilator management, airway procedures, and acute care protocols in ICU and Level I/II trauma centers. Skills Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical & intensive care environments including ICU and PICU settings. Proven expertise in airway management techniques, ventilator operation, pulmonary physiology, and anatomy. Strong background in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, medication administration related to respiratory therapy, and medical terminology. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/EHR management), medical equipment operation, and respiratory devices used in inpatient and outpatient settings. Experience working with neonates through geriatrics across diverse clinical environments such as trauma centers or outpatient clinics. Ability to respond swiftly during cardiac arrest emergencies or other critical incidents requiring advanced airway or ventilator support. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams within high-pressure hospital settings that demand acute care expertise.
