Job Description

Description EMS Deputy Director performs complex advanced technical and administrative work assisting the EMS Director with directing County emergency service programs and supervising emergency medical services staff, developing and implementing plans and programs, maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the EMS Director with Administrative Oversight by the Emergency Management Coordinator. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department. In the event the EMS Director is absent, the Deputy Director will be responsible for those functions. Essential Functions Oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of the EMS department. Supervises various levels of uniformed public safety personnel. Serves as liaison and point of contact for other County agencies, state agencies, civic, business and community groups. Assists the EMS Director in developing and administering department procedures, quality assurance, policies, budget, training and operational activities. Manages and oversees all EMS material assets and facility resources. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of emergency medical services administration, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of emergency medical treatment; thorough knowledge of laws and regulations and regulations pertaining to emergency medical services; ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical agencies, community organizations and the general public. Education and Experience Associates/Technical degree with coursework in emergency medical services, or related field and extensive hands-on experience in emergency medical services, resource management, personnel management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Possession of NC Paramedic certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience at that level in a busy rural EMS system. Possession of NCOEMS Level II Paramedic Instructor certification. Successful completion of NCOEMS Chief 101. Completion of Officer I and Officer II training or be a candidate for Officer II upon hire. Valid NC driver's license. Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800; Must complete
ICS 300, 400
within twelve months of hire. Physical Requirements are noted on the actual job descrition.
Pay:
$57,500.00 - $70,113.00 per year
