ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These requirements are a representation of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as an exhaustive list of specific duties and responsibilities. Management may direct employees to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Supervises the campus' custodial services contractors to ensure performance in accordance with the contract terms. Oversees regular and preventive building maintenance activities. Oversees campus event setup requirements with the campus custodial services contractor. Trains and directs the campus maintenance personnel. Adjusts work procedures to meet performance schedules using knowledge of staff's capabilities and the difficulty of the assignment. Makes recommendations to the Director of Plant Operations for the hiring of all maintenance staff; recommends measures to improve operating efficiencies; and recommends personnel actions such as upgrades, disciplinary measures, and the approval of annual and sick leave. Supervises and evaluates the building maintenance staff and the Assistant Campus Facilities Coordinator. Communicates and interprets College policy to staff and enforces safety standards. Consults with the Director of Plant Operations as necessary to clarify College policies and procedures. Performs work as needed to maintain the department's equipment and facilities. Assists in campus project planning and related work. Evaluates work orders to determine necessary equipment, materials, and time to complete the job. Keeps records of time and costs required for each project. Assists in preparing estimates on campus maintenance projects. Coordinates and supervises warranty repair work on campus equipment and facilities. Oversees and manages the budgets for the assigned campus facilities. Assists in conducting the annual inventory of campus physical property. Manages the setup and teardown process for graduation events. Manages the campus energy management system, the automated work order system for facility maintenance, and the card key system. Oversees and monitors projects during duty and non-duty hours, as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Standard high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma Five years of experience in facilities maintenance or building trades with HVAC and electrical repair knowledge and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Florida Building Codes Basic knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in building, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical trades. Ability to read blueprints and work from oral or written instructions Basic computer skills with working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and email applications Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing Ability to lift 60 pounds. Successful applicant will be required to complete a physical examination, including a back x-ray Ability to climb ladders and perform inspections of assigned projects Ability to maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record Ability to work evening hours, weekends and College holiday break hours, as needed
