Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, proactive, and skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the overall care, maintenance, safety, and physical stewardship of our church building and grounds. Serving as the primary coordinator for our physical spaces, you will supervise custodial staff, lead volunteer teams, coordinate contractors, monitor building systems, and ensure our campus is safe, functional, and welcoming.
Regularly assess building and grounds conditions, prioritize maintenance needs, obtain contractor estimates, and manage projects from start to finish within budget.
Building Operations & Maintenance:
Monitor major building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), perform or coordinate routine/minor repairs, and respond to urgent facility needs.
Grounds & Safety Compliance:
Oversee seasonal grounds care (landscaping, snow removal, pest control) and ensure compliance with fire, safety, accessibility, and regulatory standards.
Staff & Volunteer Leadership:
Supervise the Custodian and recruit, equip, and empower volunteer teams (including the Church Property Care Team) to care for the church.
Administration:
Maintain organized records for contracts, warranties, and maintenance schedules; order facility supplies; and assist with annual budgeting.
Qualifications & Experience Experience:
Hands-on experience and working knowledge of facilities management, property management, maintenance, construction, or project management.
Technical Skills:
Basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, evaluate vendor estimates, coordinate contractors, and lead staff or volunteers.
Mindset:
Proactive problem-solver with a "steward's eye" for preventative care and a strong commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive, and accessible spaces.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Requirements:
Must successfully pass a background check prior to employment. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to move throughout the building and grounds, navigate stairs, and work on uneven surfaces. Ability to safely lift, carry, and position items up to 50 lbs. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and work from ladders at elevated heights. Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Flexibility to respond to occasional building emergencies or seasonal needs outside normal working hours.
Pay:
$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week
