About the Role Abbey Road Farm is a working winery, a bed & breakfast, an event venue, an organic culinary garden and animal program that supplies the Tasting Room, B&B and our restaurant in Portland. Keeping it running takes someone who can move seamlessly from testing chlorine levels in the morning to troubleshooting an irrigation line before lunch to walking a General Contractor through a bid by afternoon. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in a property that runs smoothly, where guests never see the effort behind the scenes, only the result. As Facilities Manager, you'll own the physical backbone of the farm: its water systems, grounds, buildings, and infrastructure. You'll lead the safety committee, manage subcontractor relationships, and be the person everyone calls when something breaks. What You'll Do Run daily water treatment plant maintenance and chlorine testing, and coordinate contract maintenance as needed Complete state-required weekly water meter readings Coordinate contract septic maintenance Manage all General Contractor projects — sourcing estimates, briefing management, and overseeing contract work through completion Program and administer all electronic door locks Lead seasonal maintenance and winterization across irrigation systems, animal areas, and facilities Serve as on-call emergency responder for facility and farm emergencies Provide logistical support across departments Lend a hand to the livestock team when the farm calls for it Take on other projects as assigned What This Role Requires You'll bring working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and irrigation systems, and use it to keep operations running safely and smoothly across the property. You'll ensure every activity under your watch meets local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, and you'll chair the safety committee to keep that standard alive day to day. Strong communication, leadership, and training are a must. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance or a comparable role Experience running preventative maintenance programs for large operations Hands-on irrigation repair experience Valid driver's license and clean driving record Comfortable making independent decisions and working with minimal supervision Genuinely curious about process improvement, and willing to speak up with ideas Computer literate — comfortable in Word, Excel, Gmail, and Google Drive Excellent organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle competing deadlines Polished, professional communication style — you can talk shop with a craftsman and greet a guest with equal ease Self-motivated, dependable, and flexible in a fast-paced, multitasking environment Sharp problem-solving instincts and the ability to anticipate needs before they become issues Open to feedback and able to communicate clearly under pressure A safety-first mindset Ready to work outdoors in heat, cold, and rain alike On-site housing available.
