Job Description

Job Overview:
Purpose:
To serve St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church of Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania by caring for the physical plant of the congregation and the nursery school, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming facility for those who come to the church and school.
Employment Classification:
The Sexton is a full time, hourly employee.
FLSA status:
non-exempt.
Accountable To:
The Pastor and the Mutual Ministry Committee. Works closely with the Chair of the Property Committee and the Director of the Nursery School.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide for general cleaning of the facilities. (A general duty roster will be provided and updated as needed based on the needs of the church.) Provide light, routine maintenance in consultation with the Property Committee. Set up the facilities for the various programs that occur for both the congregation and the community. Report issues with the facility, including repair work needed or safety concerns, to the head of the property committee so they may be addressed. Responsible for procuring supplies and materials necessary for the completion of the tasks of the position. Act as a liaison between the various individuals and groups that use the facilities and the congregation with regard to issues related to the physical plant of St. Matthew.
Pay:
$38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
