Rochester, MN Job Summary:

The Forklift Operator will operate an rough terrain forklift to accomplish various materials handling assignments as well as performing various other fabrication functions. This is a full-time position working 5 - ten hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Overtime is paid out after 40 hours.

Position Reports To:

The Director of Production and/or the Department Leader.

Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, trucks, and storage areas. Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly. Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items. Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas. Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor. Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas. Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to truck mechanic. Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Skills:

Experience with running heavy equipment, forklifts are Combilifts Maintain a neat and organized work station. Basic (9th grade) math, language, and reading skills. Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly. Promote a positive working environment to achieve company goals.

Education/Experience/ Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. Must have valid driver's license Must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness. Must be able to move and lift up to 60-pound wooden skid or pallet.

Wages:

Training Period (90 Days), $27.00 Level 1, $28.00 Level 2, $29.00 Level 3, $30.00 Level 4, $31.00 Master, $34.00 (4 years minimum service at Briese Iron Works required) Reviews occur annually (or less) to re-evaluate skill level, so you are able to advance quickly if you master the core skills of each level.
