Council Bluffs Schools Foundation:
The Council Bluffs Schools Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 organization, governed by a board of directors, which provides financial resources and support to benefit the children, families, and staff of the Council Bluffs Community School District. In pursuit of our mission, the foundation operates three signature programs: Kids & Company is a before and after school childcare program operating out of 10 elementary buildings in the Council Bluffs School District that provides supervision and engaging activities to more than 800 children. STARS Scholarship provides financial, social, and emotional support for adult, low-income parents in Pottawattamie County as they pursue a postsecondary degree or career training certification. Alumni & Friends aims to create a network of individuals who wish to support the school district, connect with old friends, and stay informed. In addition to these programs, we administer high school scholarship funds, and provide opportunities for our community of donors to support education in Council Bluffs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred Experience in alumni relations, external affairs or equivalent Experience fostering productive relationships with volunteers, donors, and other key stakeholders Experience in professional fundraising Experience using Bloomerang or similar donor management software Experience preparing grant applications and managing grant deadlines Graduate of Council Bluffs Community School District, and/or actively engaged and connected in the Council Bluffs Community through work or service preferred. Certified Fund-Raising Executive credential (CFRE) preferred. Ability to organize and complete multiple, simultaneous tasks with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. Strong writing, planning, organizational and customer service skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively to engage alumni and donors, corporate community, and external Foundations. High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information. Ability to show initiative to work independently, combined with the skills and flexibility to thrive in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development is responsible for donor and alumni relations, and planning, organizing, and directing fundraising efforts of the foundation, including the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, grant writing, and special events. As a critical participant in achieving the strategic goals of the foundation, the Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers in all development and fundraising endeavors. The Director of Development is tasked with achieving the following outcomes: Secure operational and program funding Increase alumni, donor, and community engagement. Improve the identity of the Foundation within the community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a development plan integrated with the strategic goals of the foundation that includes the annual campaign, major gifts, planned giving, events, and grants. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff to facilitate training, planning, and execution of the development plan. Work closely with the Executive Director in strategic planning, donor cultivation, donor solicitation, and donor stewardship efforts. In partnership with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, prepare fundraising materials needed for grants, presentations, marketing, communications, and public relations. Reconcile fundraising results to ensure accountability and transparency, and to monitor and evaluate impact of fundraising efforts. Create and manage a donor recognition program, including maintenance of donor records, tracking donor pledges, and ensuring timely acknowledgment of donations. Evaluate donor recognition programs annually. Oversee the Alumni & Friends Network program, lead the volunteer alumni committee and sub committees, coordinate alumni activities in collaboration with school strict staff and the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, and create an annual alumni plan that integrates with the development plan. Create and maintain fundraising policies procedures, ensuring compliance with government regulations, ethical standards of practice, accurate and complete database records, and security of donor information. Oversee planning of foundation special events Participate in annual budget development, review monthly financial statements, and ensure statements accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization in the areas of fundraising, public relations, and marketing. Help identify areas of partnership and community collaborations and serve on internal and external project committees to further the mission of the Foundation. Other duties as assigned relating to the mission of the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation.
HOURS :
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, nights/weekends as programs dictate.

$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
