SUMMARY The Development Director is responsible for leading fundraising and community engagement efforts in the East Region for Special Olympics Texas. This role develops relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, volunteers, and community partners to increase financial support and awareness for athletes and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute regional fundraising strategies and campaigns Cultivate and steward donors, sponsors, and community partners Coordinate fundraising events and sponsorship opportunities Support grant development and donor communications Manage donor records and track fundraising performance Represent Special Olympics Texas at community and corporate events Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and board leadership to achieve revenue goals Seek new corporate sponsors, foundations and individuals to support area and regional competitions and events Integrate development opportunities into existing programs and events Plan and execute fundraising events Assist with Unified Champion Schools® development Communication of organizational goals to regional teams which must include, but are not limited to, best practices, innovation, retention and recruitment.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

Passion for

Special Olympics Texas Screening:

Must pass Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry background screening (Required for all staff)

Education:

College degree or equitable experience in non-profit fundraising; emphasis on recreation, disability awareness, and business a plus.

Experience:

Non-profit experience, development, event planning; budgeting and grant tracking, event fundraising and sponsorship development;

Knowledge:

G Suite; Database programs, CRM; NetSuite experience a plus.

Skills:

Strong organizational skill with the ability to manage multiple projects; effective time management, verbal and written skills, public speaking and customer service

Work Schedule:

Full time 40+ hours per week; This position's work schedule will be determined by the demands of the position and may include evenings and weekends. Flexible time is available with prior approval of the supervisor.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20lbs, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms through full range of motion.

Transportation:

Must have their own reliable transportation with a good driving history, valid Texas driver's license and current insurance. Special Olympics Texas vehicles available for drivers with good driving record.
