Yavapai County Development Services Department is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist to join our team! We have an open position at our Prescott and our Cottonwood locations. Environmental Health Specialist I or Environmental Health Specialist II We are looking for an Environmental Health Specialist that is detail-orientated, possesses strong communication skills, and demonstrates exceptional customer service abilities along with a genuine passion for promoting environmental health. Additionally, they should be adaptable to evolving challenges within the field and have a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations. We are accepting applications for an Environmental Health Specialist I or an Environmental Health Specialist II position, contingent upon the qualifications and skill sets of eligible applicants. Major Duties, Responsibilities Environmental Health Specialist I:
Answers questions in and out of the office from the public regarding delegated programs. Conducts inspections of assigned areas and settings. Monitors the presence of, and identifies, hazardous pollutants that may pose a threat to public health and environments. Inspects public places and observes changes in the environment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Performs site investigations as a basis for onsite wastewater system design and writes detailed reports regarding those inspections. Reviews and utilizes site investigations in determining the appropriateness of onsite wastewater system design. Conducts technical reviews of permit applications to determine compliance with applicable rules for conventional and alternative wastewater systems and issue construction authorizations. Conducts construction inspections of onsite wastewater systems to determine compliance with applicable rules and writes detailed reports regarding those inspections. Reviews well applications for compliance with setback rules.
Environmental Specialist II:
Conducts inspections of assigned areas and settings. Applies federal, state and local codes and regulations. Provides recommendations for corrective actions for inspections performed. Prepares and presents written reports. Monitors the presence of, and identifies, hazardous pollutants that may pose a threat to public health and environments. Inspects public places and observes changes in the environment. Answers questions in and out of the office from the public regarding delegated programs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Environmental Health Specialist I:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
No experience required
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
Environmental Specialist II:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the field of Environmental Health or related field.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Must possess current Registered Sanitarian certification in the State of Arizona.
