About the Role As a Development Officer, you'll help increase support for True Friends by building meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, organizations, and corporations. You'll support a variety of fundraising activities, with a particular focus on community fundraising, donor engagement, special events, and stewardship. This is a relationship-focused role that combines fundraising, community engagement, event coordination, and donor stewardship. You'll work closely with the Development and Marketing teams to create opportunities for individuals and organizations to connect with and support the True Friends mission. What You'll Do Your responsibilities may include: Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors Build and grow relationships with individuals, service organizations, community partners, and other groups involved in fundraising for True Friends Develop and implement individual donor stewardship and cultivation strategies Identify opportunities to increase support from individuals, organizations, and corporations Support the coordination and execution of community-driven fundraising events and signature fundraising events Maintain and manage True Friends' online fundraising platform, including integrating special events and other fundraising activities as appropriate Assist with planning and executing annual fundraising appeals, including content, design, and donor segmentation strategies Collaborate with the Marketing team and consultants to develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies Track donor and constituent activity and maintain accurate and up-to-date information Maintain accurate fundraising records and progress reports in Raiser's Edge Assist with the development, implementation, and reporting of the Development strategic plan and budget Participate in donor recognition activities and organizational events Represent True Friends at community meetings, fundraising events, service organization meetings, and other events as appropriate Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings for professional development Serve on committees and task forces as assigned Perform other duties as assigned Why You'll Love It Make a meaningful impact: Help generate support for programs that provide life-changing experiences for children and adults with disabilities Build relationships: Connect with donors, volunteers, community organizations, and supporters who share the True Friends mission Be part of the community: Represent True Friends at events, meetings, and fundraising activities throughout the community See the impact of your work: Help turn community relationships and donor support into meaningful resources for True Friends Develop your skills: Build experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, event planning, community engagement, and nonprofit development Work collaboratively: Partner with Development, Marketing, and other teams to advance fundraising goals Schedule Full-time, year-round Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend work may be required for fundraising events, community events, donor meetings, and other organizational activities Travel between True Friends locations and throughout the state may be required Benefits Health & Wellness Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and families, including HSA option Employer-paid life and disability insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) CPR/First Aid training opportunities Time & Flexibility PTO — accrue up to 20 days annually to start 16 hours of paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) each year 8 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays annually Hybrid work option Employee Perks Retirement savings plan with up to a 3% employer match upon eligibility Employee referral program Cabin rental discounts Continuing education and professional development opportunities Organizational events and opportunities to connect with coworkers What You'll Bring to the Table 4-year degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 2-3 years of fundraising experience preferred Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising database software preferred Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners, and coworkers Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information appropriately Strong organization and time management skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently Resourceful and creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently Experience with digital or social media fundraising and related software preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to pass the required organizational background study Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position works primarily in an office environment but also requires work at various offsite locations for meetings, fundraising events, community activities, donor and prospect visits, and other organizational activities.

Staff should be prepared to:

Sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands and fingers throughout the workday Hear and communicate verbally with coworkers, donors, prospects, volunteers, and community partners Lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds Travel between True Friends locations and other locations as needed Work occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising and community events Interact with campers, participants, counselors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community members while visiting True Friends locations or participating in organizational activities Routinely use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and photocopiers Specific physical demands and environmental conditions may vary based on the assignment and event or meeting requirements. Compensation The Development Officer is paid an hourly wage of $26.07-$28.27 per hour , based on experience.
