Job Description

Part Time Grant Writer North Shore Animal League America is seeking a Part-Time Grant Writer to develop compelling high-quality, grant proposals and funding requests for foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other philanthropic funding sources. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Development Partnerships, this role collaborates closely with program staff and leadership to identify funding opportunities, gather programmatic information, and craft persuasive narratives that align organizational initiatives with funder priorities. Responsibilities Writing and submitting grant proposals Maintaining accurate grant records and tracking systems Preparing stewardship and progress reports for existing funders Supporting broader fundraising and development initiatives Ensure compliance with grant requirements Monitor deadlines Contribute to the organization's overall fundraising strategy
Requirements Writing Samples Required:
As excellent written communication is critical to success in this role, candidates are asked to submit one or two writing samples with their application. Samples may include grant proposals, reports, donor communications, articles, or other professional writing that demonstrates clarity, persuasiveness, and attention to detail. Work Schedule Part-time, 16 hours per week Flexible schedule based on organizational needs. Remote, hybrid, or on-site arrangements may be available. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet grant deadlines. Success Measures - Success in this role will be evaluated based on: Number and quality of grant submissions and reports completed. Grant funding. Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of grant documentation. Positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
