Assistant Manager Athletica Health & Fitness Position Summary Athletica Health & Fitness is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Assistant Manager to support the overall success and daily operation of the club. This is a multi-department leadership position with responsibilities across Membership Sales, Personal Training, Operations, Customer Service, Staffing, Facility Management, and overall club performance . The Assistant Manager will work closely with the General Manager and should be capable of running the entire club in the General Manager's absence . This is not a position focused on only one department. The Assistant Manager is expected to understand the full operation of the business, take ownership, solve problems, lead employees, drive revenue, maintain company standards, and help ensure the club operates successfully every day. This position is ideal for someone looking to develop into a future General Manager within Athletica Health & Fitness. Key Responsibilities & DutiesClub Leadership & Management Assist the General Manager with the overall day-to-day operation and performance of the club. Act as the Manager on Duty and assume responsibility for the entire facility when the General Manager is unavailable. Maintain a strong management presence throughout the club and remain actively involved with members and employees. Help ensure all departments are operating efficiently and meeting Athletica standards. Identify problems quickly and take initiative to resolve them. Assist with implementing company policies, procedures, and management expectations. Communicate important operational issues, incidents, staffing concerns, and facility needs to the General Manager. Help create a positive, professional, accountable, and results-driven club culture. Membership Sales & Revenue Actively participate in membership sales and lead by example. Conduct club tours, explain membership options, overcome objections, and close memberships. Follow up with leads, prospects, former members, and other sales opportunities. Assist the sales team with improving closing techniques and overall sales performance. Monitor daily sales activity and help ensure club sales goals are achieved. Help generate leads through referrals, outreach, promotions, community engagement, and in-club opportunities. Understand current membership promotions, pricing, policies, and programs. Assist with membership questions, billing concerns, cancellations, collections, and account issues when necessary. Personal Training Support the Personal Training department and work closely with PT leadership and trainers. Help ensure new members are properly introduced to Personal Training services and scheduled for fitness assessments when applicable. Assist with generating PT leads and identifying opportunities for trainers. Understand Personal Training packages, services, promotions, and basic sales processes. Monitor PT activity and help ensure the department is providing excellent member service. Help maintain communication and accountability between Membership Sales and Personal Training. Assist with resolving PT-related member concerns when management involvement is required. Operations & Facility Management Help oversee the overall cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functionality of the facility. Perform regular club walkthroughs and identify maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or operational concerns. Ensure equipment, locker rooms, bathrooms, fitness areas, studios, pool areas, and other amenities are maintained to company standards. Report and follow up on repairs until issues are fully resolved. Assist with vendors and contractors when necessary and ensure work performed at the facility is properly documented. Help manage supplies and inventory while maintaining appropriate expense control. Ensure opening, closing, safety, and security procedures are followed. Immediately address hazards, incidents, equipment issues, or other conditions that could negatively impact members or employees. Customer Service & Member Experience Be a visible and approachable leader on the club floor. Welcome members and help create a friendly, professional, high-energy environment. Handle escalated member concerns professionally and work toward appropriate resolutions. Assist with membership accounts, billing questions, cancellations, collections, and general account concerns. Ensure employees consistently provide excellent customer service. Build relationships with members and identify opportunities to improve the overall member experience. Help maintain strong member retention and satisfaction. Employee Leadership & Development Help supervise employees across all club departments . Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing employees. Ensure employees understand and follow Athletica policies, procedures, and expectations. Provide coaching and corrective feedback when performance standards are not being met. Help hold employees accountable for attendance, punctuality, customer service, sales expectations, cleanliness, and job performance. Assist with employee schedules and ensure appropriate club coverage. Help develop employees into stronger performers and future leaders. Lead by example and maintain professional management standards at all times. Financial & Expense Accountability Assist the General Manager with controlling club expenses and operating within established budgets. Help monitor payroll and staffing levels based on business needs. Ensure purchases and club expenses are properly documented. Identify unnecessary expenses and opportunities to operate more efficiently. Understand that management is responsible for both revenue generation and expense control . Performance & Accountability The Assistant Manager will share responsibility for the overall performance of the club, including: Membership sales Personal Training performance Lead generation and follow-up Member retention and satisfaction Customer service Employee performance and accountability Facility cleanliness and maintenance Payroll and expense control Operational compliance Safety and security Overall club presentation and member experience Qualifications Previous management, assistant management, sales, hospitality, fitness, retail, or customer-service leadership experience preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Strong sales ability with a results-driven mindset. Ability to coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable. Comfortable handling difficult member and employee situations professionally. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple departments and priorities simultaneously. Ability to make decisions and solve problems without requiring constant direction. Willingness to be hands-on and assist wherever the business needs support. Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require . Fitness industry experience is preferred but not required for the right leadership candidate. What We're Looking For At Athletica Health & Fitness, an Assistant Manager is not simply an additional supervisor. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the entire club . The right candidate understands that if there is a sales opportunity, they help close it. If Personal Training needs support, they step in. If a member has a problem, they help resolve it. If an employee needs coaching, they coach them. If something is wrong with the facility, they take action. The Assistant Manager should be able to walk into the club, understand what needs attention, and take ownership without waiting to be told what to do. This position is designed to develop a well-rounded leader who can ultimately be prepared to take the next step in the company.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 50.0 per week
