Job Description

Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking an experienced, organized, and collaborative Business Manager to support the financial health and administrative operations of the school for the 2026-2027 school year. Working closely with the School Administrator, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees, this position plays a vital role in stewarding the school's financial systems, supporting long-term sustainability, and helping the school community thrive. Mālamalama Waldorf School was founded in 1978 and is located on a beautiful 20-acre rainforest campus in Keaʻau on Hawaiʻi Island. MWS is a well-respected independent Waldorf school serving preschool through Grade 8 and is accredited by AWSNA, WASC, and HAIS. The ideal candidate is a self-directed financial professional with experience in bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, and nonprofit or school financial management who values integrity, professionalism, and responsible stewardship of shared resources.

Classification:
Salaried Responsibilities include full-cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, tuition billing and family account management through FACTS Tuition Management, budget development, financial reporting, cash flow monitoring, vendor payments, reimbursements, tax filings, coordination with enrollment and administrative staff regarding tuition and financial aid, and supporting financial systems, policies, and operational workflows. Qualifications include 3-5 years preferred experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration; experience with QuickBooks and Google Workspace/Excel; experience with nonprofit or school financial management preferred; experience with FACTS Tuition Management or similar billing platform preferred; strong organizational and communication skills; United States work authorization; and basic computer literacy and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and professional ethics, be self-directed and detail-oriented, communicate professionally and sensitively with families and colleagues, and show openness to Waldorf education and collaborative school culture. Compensation and benefits include a salary range of $50,000-$65,000 depending on experience, medical insurance (individual), and tuition remission.
