Under the general direction of the Board of Directors (BOD) the GM manages the daily operation of the water and sewer utilities and supervises all utility field and office personnel. Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Directing and scheduling the work of all utility crews and administrative personnel.
- Time keeping.
- Evaluating, prioritizing and managing financing for capital projects for utility expansion, maintenance, upgrades, and repair, and reporting on these projects to the BOD.
- Preparing and administering the annual budget and purchasing materials, supplies, services and equipment necessary for operation of the utilities.
- Ensuring compliance with OHSA regulations and VRUC procedures and guidelines.
- Completing and submitting the annual water audit, Consumer Confidence Report, monthly reports, annual reports, bi-annual reports to the State of Indiana, EPA and other required regulatory agencies and maintaining records of all such reports.
- Serve as the point of contact for dispatching crews during emergency call outs.
- Represent the Company with developers, contractors, regulatory agencies financial consultants, engineers and other such agencies and groups.
- Represent the Company concerning customer complaints and resolving of such complaints.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma (College degree preferred)
- Five (5) years of management or supervisory experience directing a utility and utility crews.
- Working knowledge of water and wastewater system operations and maintenance.
- Possession of Indiana DSL license or ability to obtain within 24 months.
- 2 years project management experience.
- Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and the ability to make sound decisions during emergency conditions.
- Valid local driver's license.
Work Conditions:
This position is subject to emergency calls outside of normal business hours. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, stooping kneeling and the ability to speak English.
