Business Manager Hub's Yacht Club & Marina Location Hastings, Minnesota Position Type Full-Time Schedule Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week (some Saturdays required during launch and haul-out; additional hours as needed for weather/operational events) Reports To President, Board of Directors Position Summary Hub's Yacht Club & Marina is seeking a highly capable, organized, and hands-on Business Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of an 80-slip marina and waterfront facility, which also supports rental and service opportunities for roughly 78 additional watercraft and vehicles (boat launches, PWC spaces, seasonal passes, transient slips, storage, RV parking, and more). This is a leadership role combining business acumen with hands-on, solution-oriented decision-making. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing budgets and financial records, coordinating maintenance and contractors, supervising seasonal staff, serving members, and responding to weather events and operational issues as they arise. The Business Manager has day-to-day authority over marina operations and seasonal personnel within Board-approved policies and budgets. Key Responsibilities Financial & Business Management Own day-to-day financial management: A/P, A/R, bookkeeping, and P&L oversight Monitor revenue, expenses, and cash flow; prepare monthly financial and operational reports for the Board Manage the annual operating budget and identify cost-saving and revenue opportunities Serve as the marina's primary purchasing agent, including vendor comparisons and contract records Marina Operations Oversee daily operations of the clubhouse, docks, grounds, launch facilities, and storage areas Coordinate scheduling for boat launches, haul-outs, transient slips, storage, and seasonal passes Develop and maintain operating procedures that support safety, customer satisfaction, and profitability Facility & Maintenance Oversight Implement a preventative and corrective maintenance program for docks, piers, clubhouse, and grounds Coordinate contractors and service providers for specialized repairs, pending Board approval Identify and recommend maintenance, repair, and capital improvement needs to the Board Staff & Contractor Supervision Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise seasonal dockhands and other Board-approved personnel Set daily/weekly priorities and ensure work is completed safely and on schedule Report regularly to the Board on staffing, projects, and priorities Member & Customer Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for members, customers, vendors, and contractors Manage member communications across email, phone, website, and social media Enforce marina rules and policies fairly and consistently Marketing & Revenue Development Market available slips, storage, and services to drive occupancy and revenue Identify and present new business opportunities to the Board Manage the marina's digital and social media presence Safety, Risk & Emergency Preparedness Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations; address unsafe conditions promptly Monitor weather, water levels, and flood forecasts; execute storm and seasonal opening/closing procedures Coordinate emergency response and manage insurance/risk-related matters Board Support Provide the Board with timely, actionable updates on operations, finances, and safety issues Support long-term maintenance, capital improvement, and development planning Other duties as assigned by the Marina Board of Directors, including reasonable operational needs outside normal responsibilities as required to protect marina property, customers, or staff. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record General knowledge of boats, boating operations, and marina environments Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines independently Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal/customer service skills Ability to supervise staff, contractors, and vendors Intermediate computer proficiency and ability to learn marina management software (e.g., Buildium) Ability to maintain confidentiality and prepare professional reports for a Board of Directors Preferred Experience in marina, yacht club, boatyard, hospitality, or property/facility management Degree in Business Administration or related field Background in bookkeeping, budgeting, P&L management, and financial reporting Experience with staff supervision, vendor/contractor management, and OSHA/safety compliance Marketing, sales, or revenue development experience, including social media Experience with emergency preparedness or environmental risk management Physical & Work Environment This role combines office-based administrative work with hands-on duties throughout the marina and waterfront property. Candidates should be able to (with or without reasonable accommodation): Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods Lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including on docks and near water Respond to operational emergencies and rapidly changing conditions
