CAPSAW DIRECTOR

\nAbout CAPSAW\nThe Community Action Partnership of Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro (CAPSAW) strengthens the region by investing federal, state, and local resources into programs that reduce the causes and conditions of poverty. Through competitive grants, strategic partnerships, and data-driven community planning, CAPSAW supports a network of nonprofits that deliver effective, measurable services to low-income families.\nWe are seeking a mission-focused, collaborative, and highly organized Executive Director to lead CAPSAW into its next chapter.\nSubmit cover letter and resume to capsaw.valley@gmail.com\nPosition Overview\nThe Executive Director is the chief administrative officer of CAPSAW and is responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management. This includes oversight of all planning, grantmaking, compliance, fiscal administration, and community partnerships.\nThe ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively with local governments, nonprofit partners, state agencies, and the CAPSAW Board of Directors, and a commitment to community-centered approaches.\n

Hybrid — remote work with in-person presence across Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro\nReports to: CAPSAW Board of Directors\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nProgram & Grant Management\nOversee competitive grant process, contracts, and compliance for all CAPSAW-funded programs.\nProvide technical assistance and monitoring for nonprofit subgrantees.\nEnsure timely and accurate collection of reporting and outcomes.\nPlanning & Administration\n? Lead development of CAPSAW's annual Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) application, strategic plans, needs assessments, and federal/state reporting.\n? Manage local funding from Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro, including budget preparation and communication with locality partners.\n? Maintain organizational policies, documentation, and audit readiness.\nFiscal Oversight\nWork with fiscal agents to ensure accurate budget management, drawdowns, and adherence to federal/state guidelines.\nPrepare financial reports, support annual audits and monitoring visits.\nCommunity & Stakeholder Engagement\nRepresent CAPSAW in local and regional coalitions, statewide Community Action network activities, and collaborative initiatives.\nFoster strong relationships with community partners, funders, and government officials.\nCommunicate CAPSAW priorities, outcomes, and impact to stakeholders.\nBoard Relations\nProvide regular updates, analysis, and recommendations to the CAPSAW Board.\nSupport board committees and ensure compliance with bylaws and governance requirements.\nMinimum Qualifications\nExperience in nonprofit management, public administration, social services, or a related field.\nStrong project management skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations.\nExcellent written and verbal communication abilities.\nDemonstrated commitment to equity and community engagement.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBackground in fund development, strategic planning, or community assessments.\nSupervisory or organizational leadership experience.\nProficiency using spreadsheets and data dashboards.\nExperience with Community Action Agencies, CSBG, or federal grant administration.\nWhy Work With CAPSAW\nMeaningful mission-driven work with direct impact on local families and communities.\nFlexible hybrid schedule.\nStrong partnerships with local governments, nonprofits, and statewide Community Action network.\nOpportunity to lead an established, respected regional initiative.\nTo apply for this opportunity, submit cover letter and resume to capsaw.valley@gmail.com.\n
