$24.56 to $33.75 per hour, based on experience This hospital, recognized on Forbes' list of top 100 hospitals, is looking for a Pharmacy Purchasing Associate to support the purchasing and inventory operations of its pharmacy department. The organization is located in a rural setting in east central Ohio, within reasonable distance of larger metro areas. Schedule Full time. Compensation $24.56 to $33.75 per hour, depending on years of experience. What You'll Do In this role, you will be responsible for purchasing a wide variety of pharmaceuticals to support daily operations across the healthcare system, working closely with vendors, clinicians, medical staff, and management to secure products that offer the best combination of quality and value. You will review and utilize Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts where feasible, maintaining current knowledge of contract availability and status, and will use 340B split billing software to ensure purchases are applied to the appropriate account. You'll manage receiving, returns, and stock levels for the organization and surgery center, maintain and update preferred items with the wholesaler across all accounts, and report preferred item changes to the Pharmacy IT team. Additional responsibilities include validating medication barcodes and reporting cost and scanning details to Pharmacy IT, recommending new products or substitutions to the appropriate manager, and providing product information for new formulary items added to the Epic Medication List. You will perform value analysis on products, provide cost saving documentation, and monitor usage to adjust stock levels appropriately. This includes conducting financial analysis on product selection decisions, factoring in existing contracts, service quality, and delivery, as well as resolving vendor invoice discrepancies, sourcing requisitions into purchase orders, and reviewing backorders and following up on outstanding orders. You'll order consignment inventory as needed and complete monthly consignment inventory reports for the wholesaler, and will create labels and unit dose items requiring barcoding or individual packaging through the Medi-Dose program. Additional duties include performing quarterly unit inspections of medications in the CII safe and Pyxis units, processing drug boxes and bulk charge medications documented on anesthesia records, reviewing shortage inventory levels and reporting shortages to appropriate staff, and matching direct invoices with packing slips while maintaining ASNs for DSCSA compliance. You will stay current on developments and trends relevant to pharmacy purchasing, maintain communication with pharmaceutical representatives regarding new products and availability, assist with the annual physical inventory of all pharmaceuticals on hand, and order, receive, and transfer controlled substances in compliance with state and federal regulations. This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Current Ohio Board of Pharmacy registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee (candidates not yet certified must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician status within one year of hire) 3+ years of experience in purchasing and inventory Strong interpersonal, decision making, facilitation, conflict resolution, and investigative skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with 340B split billing software Familiarity with GPO contract management Experience with Epic or similar pharmacy/EHR systems Compensation and Benefits $24.56 to $33.75 per hour Full benefits package To apply , please submit your resume for consideration.
